As a certified public accountant, Orrin Cellan’s strength lies in his ability to figure out how the pieces of a financial puzzle fit together. “Taxes affect us all and can become very stressful if we are unprepared” he said. “I like to understand things that have power and influence in my life in order to create a plan and protect myself.” He extends that same security to clients by helping them make informed and responsible decisions.

Even before Orrin officially joined Onyx Financial, he was a familiar face around the office. In 2013 he interned with the firm while finishing his accounting degree at BYU-Idaho. From there, he pursued a master’s degree in accountancy and taxation at Boise State University and was scooped up by the Boise office of Eide Bailly, a top-20 firm in the country. During those five years, Orrin was promoted to a senior tax associate, with work focused on trusts, estates, small businesses, and high-net-worth individuals.

Because of his exemplary work experience and demonstrated competence during his internship, Onyx recruited Orrin to join their ranks in July 2021. Orrin knew his personality and philosophy would fit well within the firm’s culture. Taking the time to find the right answers and putting clients first are part of his personal code of ethics, and Onyx embraces these same ideals.

Orrin lends tax expertise to the team. As a detail-oriented person who excels in remembering small details, he loves the challenge of considering every aspect of a situation to discover how the elements fit together. Many of his office hours are spent analyzing clients’ investment and retirement goals to assist them with implementing tax planning strategies that can offer long term tax savings and benefits. Orrin enjoys all aspects of finance and accounting and appreciates the challenge of the wide variety of work that comes from working for a wealth management firm.

Orrin grew up in Pocatello, Idaho. His love of finance began in high school, where he participated in Business Professionals of America and applied what he learned to his family’s small business. Orrin and his wife have one son and love spending time with their large extended family. Orrin enjoys gardening, exploring the mountains, and recreational shooting. He is excited to help others maximize the time they have to spend more of time doing the things they enjoy.
