Jonathan Petersen

Jonathan Petersen is dedicated to helping clients navigate the complex world of personal finance through a structured, long-term approach. A true people person, he enjoys making new friends and developing meaningful, long-term relationships grounded in trust. By identifying each client's unique objectives and values, Jonathan crafts personalized investment plans that help individuals and families steer clear of unnecessary risks and capture long-term returns.

Jonathan began working as a financial planner in 2015 and proudly joined Onyx in 2020, drawn to the firm because its evidence-based philosophy aligned with his own. His passion for delivering research-driven advice is backed by an elite educational foundation. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Brigham Young University-Idaho and his Master of Personal Financial Planning from Texas Tech University—one of the top programs in the nation—where he was mentored by financial-planning pioneer Harold Evensky.

To provide comprehensive, competent wealth management, Jonathan holds a premier combination of professional credentials, including CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) and Enrolled Agent (EA).

In his personal time, Jonathan is dedicated to his family and his community. He loves spending his spare time golfing, coaching youth sports, and volunteering with his church. Above all, Jonathan treasures time at home in Idaho Falls with his wife, Jessica, and their four energetic boys.
