Dallin is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and certified public accountant who keeps his view on the long-term horizon, helping clients with investment planning, maintaining budgets, and preparing for tomorrow’s storms today. In particular, he assists people who are approaching retirement with making optimal decisions about 401(k) options, Social Security benefits, and pensions.

One of Dallin’s strengths is his ability to listen. He takes time to understand client questions and really answer them, rather than providing general counsel. This results in high-quality customized care. New clients benefit from a discovery meeting where Dallin identifies their goals, and from there he works as a teammate in building a plan to reach those goals, meeting as often as necessary to foster confidence and calm.

Dallin grew up in Rexburg, Idaho, where he learned the importance of work ethic, patience, and perseverance working on family farms. His interest in numbers and money also goes back to his youth; as a teen, he began reading books by Warren Buffett, and many of his high school electives were math-based and accounting courses.

Dallin started his career with Onyx Financial Advisors and sister-company Parry, Roe, & Company as a BYU-Idaho accounting intern in 2014. Upon graduation, Dallin earned a master’s degree in accounting from Idaho State University, preparing personal and business income tax returns for Parry, Roe, & Company during tax season. As an intern, Dallin was impressed by the way Onyx provided academically and research-based financial advice, complemented with tax expertise. The company’s approach resonated with him and the things he learned all those years before as a young student of Warren Buffett.

Dallin joined the office full time in 2015. Today he relies on his experience and education to maximize financial-plan execution through his trading and portfolio-management responsibilities. He is involved with every client from the early point of setting up investment accounts through being an ongoing point of contact to answer questions and carry out requests.

Dallin also helps clients understand that seemingly small things can make a big difference, and when it comes to finances, many of the important details come down to budgeting. Dallin enjoys teaching clients how identifying their retirement budget will help pinpoint the right age for retirement and keep the golden years truly golden.

Dallin and his wife are the parents of four children. They enjoy all things outdoors—camping, skiing, golfing, dirt biking, and gardening. Dallin understands the value of a quality lifestyle and works hard to help clients achieve their vision of the good life.
